Kirkstall Art Trail 2025 – What’s on

Sunday 23 June to Sunday 21 July
Where: Grassy Knoll – St Stephens Church, Morris Lane
Forget the Hollywood Hills; Kirkstall Art Trail has its own sign! Created by Jon Simmons and Matt Hoban-Sykes, with help from young people from The Skill Set. This public art project was made possible by a generous donation from CEG. The ‘K.A.T.’ letters will be up for a month.

Friday 18 July, 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm
Where: St Stephen’s Church Hall, Norman Street
Unlock your creativity with an evening of improvised storytelling. Never tried anything like this before? Then this is the perfect introduction and a great way to start the Kirkstall Art Trail weekend. Tickets cost £12, and you can buy them from Snappy Tickets. Ages 18+.

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Where: various locations
There are a variety of activities that you can join in with over the weekend. Along with traditional workshops, there are artist demonstrations, scavenger hunts, and performances. Check the Art Trail Map for locations, and the 2025 Activity Directory to find out more about what is on offer.

Saturday 19 July, 11 am to 12 pm
Where: 78 Morris Lane
Leeds Drawing Club presents an introduction to portrait drawing with a sitting model. Join artist and tutor Ellie Andrews, who will guide you through the basics of how to compose a portrait. Tickets cost £10, and you can buy them from Leeds Drawing Club. Ages 16+.

Saturday 19 July, 2.00pm
Where: Kirkstall Abbey Church
The Fashion Show is returning, and so is the sustainable fashion theme. Designers once again will be transforming pre-owned clothes into brand-new outfits. Join us in the Abbey Church, as the nave becomes a magnificent catwalk for these designs. Find out more at Venue 5D.

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Where: Abbey Hairstylist, St Stephen’s Church and the Art Yard
This summer, professional artists led three different workshops, bringing together people from Kirkstall and across Leeds. In collaboration with the artists, they learned new skills and created artwork for the trail. You can see the resulting work on display at Venue 19, Venue 23, and Venue 27.

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Where: various locations
Mural art in Kirkstall is growing. From the public art of the Kirkstall Crusaders wall to the two new murals being painted on Vicarage Terrace (Venue 20). There are even plans for a mural on Kirkstall Bridge (Venue 32), of which you can play a part. Be sure to pay a visit as you follow the trail.

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Where: Chunk Bakery, 147 Kirkstall Hill
The theme for this year’s photo competition, ‘Capture Kirkstall’, was People and Places. The three winners of the competition will have their photographs professionally printed and framed and exhibited at Chunk Bakery. Find out more about the winners and go see their winning images at Venue 36.

Saturday 19 July onwards
Where: various locations outdoors, Kirkstall
After the success of last year, the Poetry Trail is returning. Poems can be found in locations around Kirkstall, and you can find them with the Poetry Trail map. Entrants came from far and wide. And just like in 2024 they will stay up beyond the weekend until they weather away.

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Where: Information Point and venues across the Art Trail
Get sleuthing and find all the artists on our Scavenger Hunt. When you locate the artist, stop for a chat and find out all about them and their craft. Don’t forget to get your sheet stamped. Can you collect them all? Pick up your sheet from the information point on Norman Street, and venues around the trail.

Saturday 19 July, 7 pm to 9 pm
Where: Queenswood Social Club
Celebrate the return of the ‘Poetry Trail’ at our Evening Social. Join us at Queenswood Social Club (Venue 21) for an evening of poetry and spoken-word performances. ‘Poetry Trail’ poets will read us their poems, plus visitors have the chance to perform in the open mic.
