‘How to fill in the Visitor Access Guides’ has prompts and examples to help with this section.

Describe the approach to the building. For example, the ground surface, any steps (height, depth, handrails), gates (material, height, width), and whether a ramp or boards can be provided.
Describe the entrance to the building. For example, any steps (height, depth, handrails), whether the door is locked, which way it opens, how heavy it is, and the doorway width.
Describe the interior. For example, the floor surface, whether visitors pass through other rooms to reach the exhibition space, seating, and roughly how many people the space comfortably fits.

Dogs

Assistance/Guide dog owners have important rights under the Equality Act 2010. Under this law fully trained assistance dogs have full rights of access to public places, spaces and services. This does not cover private residences, but we do encourage you to be as accessible as possible.

Photograph of the venue

  • The photo must show the path or street leading to the venue.
  • The photo must also show the entrance to the venue.
  • If possible, move any objects obstructing this view, such as cars.
  • The photo must be clear, good quality, and in landscape orientation.
  • Pick a bright, clear day to take the photo, if possible.
  • Extra photos can be sent if they help describe the venue in more detail. For these additional shots, either landscape or portrait orientation is acceptable.
