Jelena Havelka
Painting / printmaking
“I am an abstract artist who explores memories and emotions through textured layers, colours, and shapes. I hold a PhD in Psychology, and my art education comes from residencies and workshops with artists and printmakers in Yorkshire. My academic work on the relationship between cognitive processes and emotion and research on how colour, emotion, language, and culture interact significantly informs my creative approach. Primarily working with oil paints, I also employ a range of materials and techniques to achieve my distinct style, which, while predominantly abstract, occasionally incorporates semi-abstract figurative elements. I have shown my work in numerous group exhibitions throughout Yorkshire and recently held my first solo exhibition. My works form part of private collections throughout Europe.”
