“BREW is hosted by four local illustrators – Bethany Sparks, Molly Pukes, Meg Lent and Warren Powell. We are part of the Association of Illustrators network of local meetups, connecting and strengthening the community so we can support and learn from each other. All illustrators are welcome to join us, regardless of background, education, skill, age, etc.”

“I competed on ‘Portrait Artist of the Year 2022’ and created a drypoint etching of Elizabeth Day. I am a graphic designer by trade, having spent many years working in print, advertising, and display. I set up Jagger Studio to promote my lino and drypoint etching prints.”

“I’m a young(ish) artist with a big interest in antiques and repurposing damaged or out-of-date pieces to turning them into my own art! I mostly like making assemblage jewellery, but also dabble in making postcards and ephemera, as well as hosting workshops.”

My work merges classical precision with contemporary innovation, using movement to connect, tell stories, and create performances that are impactful, collaborative, and meaningful.”

West Riding Stone Carving Association

Stone carving

“Our aim is to keep the art of carving stone by hand alive and bring it to the general public. Membership is open to anyone interested in stone carving and willing to support the Association’s goals. We also teach a beginners’ foundation course; experience is not necessary.”

Inside the Abbey’s Cloister

  • The Cloister is located in a courtyard and is step-free.
  • There is a tarmac path that runs round the outside of the courtyard.
  • The ground in the main courtyard area is grass.

  • Both assistance dogs and pet dogs are welcome in the Abbey grounds but must be kept on a lead.
  • Dog bowls are available at the front entrance of the café.
  • Dogs are allowed in the café, but only assistance dogs are permitted in the Rose Room.
  • There are bins available for disposing of dog waste.

  • Toilets are located in the shop.
  • There are separate male and female toilets.
  • A separate gender-inclusive accessible toilet is also available, facilities include:
    • handrails on both sides
    • an emergency alarm
    • a fire alarm with a flashing light
    • baby changing facilities
  • There is room for a wheelchair to manoeuvre, and space for an assistant.
  • This toilet is not RADAR key operated.

  • There is a café at Kirkstall Abbey, located in the visitor centre next to the shop.
  • The menu includes sandwiches, hot meals, ice cream, and a variety of baked goods.
  • Vegan and gluten-free options are available.
  • Hot and cold drinks are served, and milk alternatives are available.
  • Counter service, but table service can be requested.
  • High chairs are available.
  • Kirkstall Abbey is a breastfeeding-friendly space.
