Gaia – Mother Earth: fashion re-made
In Spring 2024, local designers were invited to apply to take part in a Kirkstall Art Trail first – an upcycled sustainable fashion show. Each had a budget of £30 to spend at Kirkstall’s Cancer Research Superstore, where many items cost just £3, and were tasked with transforming these second-hand clothes into new outfits.
The show carries a powerful message, hence the reference to Mother Earth: the fashion industry is estimated to be the third most polluting in the world, and changing our habits to help our planet is a timely reminder.
